A tough Saturday

I'm secretly dreading tomorrow. I've known for a while that Nov. 21 is National Survivors of Suicide Day. But it just seems so improbable. While we will be mourning with thousands of other survivors, we will also be observing Garrett's birthday. He would have been 23 tomorrow.

Know the signs. Talk to your family, friends and loved ones. Reach out to those that have been touched by this horrible epidemic. Spread love and light.

RIP Garrett Ronald Cook 12.7.07

Two book projects in the works now

I am currently writing a book proposal for a non-fiction about the last three years and losing my brother to suicide. Very happy topic, no?

But it's become apparent that Jim and I need to start working on a proposal for a second book called, "Unfulfilled Potential: How to waste your advanced degree, listlessly pass through life and accumulate debt in your 20s". It'll be a best seller! Mostly because about 80 percent of the people we know in their late 20s and early 30s are struggling through the same thing. It'll be a he said-she said back and forth (not adversaries mind you) of how we are wandering through an unpleasant stage in our lives and how we're navigating it. In this economy, if it made just one or two people feel better, I think we would have done our job.

Off to start the proposal.
