No Means is keeping a watch on the porch while it snows
We have a Gnome named No Means and he likes to sit and watch the snow fall. And since the snow shows no signs of stopping, No Means is very happy.

This was just a regular tree, not a weeping willow, but is seems to have been weighed down by all the flakes.

Lucy's new trick to try to see the deer
We have a lot of deer in our yard and they sit around and eat the crabapples that fall off the tree. Well Lucy couldn't quite get the best angle to see them, so she decided this was a good approach. Here she is, balancing with her back legs on the bed and her front legs on the 3-inch window sill. It's quite the balancing act. She also tried one day to run and jump up on the window sill and stay there but wasn't quite svelte enough to make it happen.

Lucy and Del get their first hunting jackets
The pupsters got some winter hunting jackets today. They are limited edition Ducks Unlimited neoprene jackets so I know Grampa Tom is going to be very proud. :) Del hates wearing his and walks like a duck and won't move much, but I have a feeling he'll be running in no time. Lucy is just glad to have an extra layer!

Jim can run for miles (v 2.0)
J had this crazy idea in his head that he had to run a marathon before he turned 30. So 11 days before his 30th year commences, he finished the Denver Marathon in 4:40. Amazing! I am so proud of him. He's hurting a bit right now -- asleep face-first on the couch and moaning for the pain in his legs -- but he'll be fine by tomorrow (or next week). He should be so pumped to join the marathon club. Whether he'll do it again or not, who knows. Let's see what he feels like tomorrow.
I was able to ride my bike along with him on the last two-mile stretch, so I got some great pictures of his last, painful push to the finish line. Here he is coming down the stretch as I met him. He was hurting.
Here he is coming around the corner to the finish line.
Here he is in the park afterwards. He needed a lot of stretching and massage, but he was slowly getting the color back in his face. FYI: He was very sweaty.

The Mulica wedding!
We recently made a trip out to Nathrop, CO for the wedding of our friends Emily and Matt. I've known Emily since we were in school at USD in the late '90s and she hasn't missed a step since. She looked amazing on their big day and even though I had pneumonia (and was feeling pretty yucky), I really enjoyed their mountain nuptials!

Snow in early October
The most beautiful part of living in Colorado is when the fall colors mix with the year's first snow. This year we had an especially early freeze, followed by a ton of snowflakes and a mix of winter with autumn. Gorgeous mix of deep reds, oranges and yellows with the stark white snow.

Friday the 13th lives on
Our neighbor is a sculptor who makes giant things from styrafoam and other random materials. He does a lot of 3-D billboards and large displays for conventions. His latest creation is a giant 15-foot-tall replica of Jason from Friday the 13th. It's actually pretty terrifying at night when a spotlight is shining on it. Jim was even scared during the day...
