Jim can run for miles (v 2.0)

J had this crazy idea in his head that he had to run a marathon before he turned 30. So 11 days before his 30th year commences, he finished the Denver Marathon in 4:40. Amazing! I am so proud of him. He's hurting a bit right now -- asleep face-first on the couch and moaning for the pain in his legs -- but he'll be fine by tomorrow (or next week). He should be so pumped to join the marathon club. Whether he'll do it again or not, who knows. Let's see what he feels like tomorrow.

I was able to ride my bike along with him on the last two-mile stretch, so I got some great pictures of his last, painful push to the finish line. Here he is coming down the stretch as I met him. He was hurting.

Here we are on the final mile. I was trying to cheer him on as best I could, but more wishing I could have run it for him!

Here he is coming around the corner to the finish line.

Down the finish stretch he goes! Everyone was cheering him on here and the announcer said "and here comes James! He's from Golden and the altitude doesn't bother him at all! Go James, coming in under 4:45!"

Here he is in the park afterwards. He needed a lot of stretching and massage, but he was slowly getting the color back in his face. FYI: He was very sweaty.

Here is some video I took of him on the 25th mile. This is right when I joined him on my bike and he seemed to want to RIDE the bike across the finish line. Luckily he ran, and HARD, all the way to that ribbon. Now he has a medal to show for it!
